Believing God is a lifestyle. It is a daily, deliberate choice. It is waking in the morning and saying, "My Lord and my God, I thank you for another day to know You and believe You. Whatever means you may choose to increase my faith today, I commit myself to that glorious end." (Isaiah 43:10) After He sings us to sleep at night, may our Father be able to look at the Son on His right and say, "She believed me today." And He will credit it to our account as righteousness.
Challenges will undoubtedly arise in our lives when God has every intention of bringing us complete victory, but He ordains that the process will demand our all. Such a small word means so much. We have never been more fragmented or lived in a society that demanded more pieces of us. How can a person who is giving a thousand pieces of herself to innumerable demands and desires every know wholeness? The Lord Jesus Christ offers us the one and only way to wholeness: giving ourselves wholly to Him, inviting His healing, and trusting Him to apportion our energies, gifts, and talents in their most effective ways. Every fish. Every loaf. Withholding nothing. We give Christ our all. And with it HE does the impossible.
I want to see the kinds of things Joshua and the children of Israel saw, and I want to practice the kind of faith that invites God to act.
Exodus 24:1-8
Every leader who is great in God's eyes in a servant.
--> According to verse 16, How many days were Moses and Joshua in their positions on the mountain before God spoke?
**I ache for the body of Christ in our generation to learn how to tarry before God and expectantly wait for Him to speak. I'm desperate to learn it for myself. If we did, what revelation we would receive!
Exodus 33:7-11
Please don't miss the intimation that anyone or everyone who wanted to inquire of the Lord could go into the tent. Yet what do we see them doing? As Moses entered, they stood back and watched him from a distance. We are people of the new covenant - people to whom God has offered a "surpassing glory" (2 Cor. 3:10) **Yet, like the children of Israel, much of the body of Christ still stands back and watches those they consider truly anointed draw near God's glory. Dear One, you are anointed (1 John 2:27). Never settle for a secondhand relationship.
2 Timothy 1:12
The More we know God, the more we will believe Him, and the more we choose to believe Him, the more we will get to know Him.
The God to whom you commit yourself and everything that concerns you is huge. He is the omnipotent Maker of heaven and earth. He is the One who sees. He is the One who knows. He is the One who acts on behalf of His children. He is the Mighty Warrior. He is the compassionate Father. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the coming King. He is love. He is light. He is good. He is right. He is your soul's delight. He is...whatever you need. He alone is wise. In Him alone life makes sense and apart from Him all is chaos.
Each morning when you turn your face toward heaven, before you make your first petition, start confessing who He is. Call Him by as many names and titles as He brings to mind and praise Him for His immutable attributes. Say to your soul, "Behold and believe!"
The God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Samson, David, John the Baptist, Mary of Magdala, Mary of Bethany, Peter James, John, and Pual is your God. The same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the magnificent One, full of splendor, beautiful beyond comprehension. The I Am That I Am throughout every generation. Whoever He was, He is. Who He was to them, He is to you. Start taking Him up on His Godness. When you have no idea what to believe Him for in a given situation, just believe Him to be huge.
Come, holy God, and be Thyself.
